This group exhibition was taking its cue from Brandon LaBelle's 2014 book Lexicon of the Mouth: Poetics and Politics of Voice and the Oral Imaginary, and was the result of preceding workshops with Master's students at ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels. Designed for and adapted to the space by the participating artists, certain barely audible "murmured" sound pieces accompanied the visit. Sliding imperceptibly from the register of noise to that of language, these voices encouraged different modes of listening and broadened the sensory field of the works. Live or recorded conversations, interior monologues, sound traces or manipulations - these are all attempts to intimately address visitors through alternative channels of communication.
